V odlehlé vesnici na jihu Egypta se od žen očekává, že budou pomáhat mužům, mlčet a rodit děti. Na protest proti zažitým stereotypům zakládá skupina mladých dívek divadelní spolek.

Ten se stává místem pro jejich svobodné vyjádření, ale i vzájemnou podporu. Svá vystoupení, plná vlastních snů i zážitků, situují do veřejných prostranství, která jinak okupují pouze toulaví psi a muži na motocyklech.

V průběhu čtyř let, kdy se z dívek stávají ženy, se ale skupina pod nátlakem partnerů a jejich rodin pomalu rozpadá. Jeviště naštěstí nezůstává dlouho prázdné. Naděje přichází s další generací mladých dívek, které se z divaček stávají hlavními aktérkami svých životů.

In a remote village in southern Egypt, women are expected to help men, keep quiet, and bear children. In protest against stereotypes, a group of young girls form a theater group.

It becomes a place for their free expression, but also for mutual support. They place their performances, full of their own dreams and experiences, in public spaces that are otherwise occupied only by stray dogs and men on motorcycles.

Over the course of four years, as the girls become women, the group slowly disintegrates under pressure from their partners and their families. Fortunately, the stage does not remain empty for long. Hope comes with the next generation of young girls, who go from being spectators to becoming the main actors in their lives.
